Elder – Mark Richards
Mark joined the church in Newtown in 1989 and was appointed pastor in 2003. He is married to Chris and they have two daughters. Mark became a Christian mainly through the influence of his school’s Christian Union. In the gospel of Jesus Christ he found something deeply and enduringly satisfying. He still cannot imagine anybody offering him anything better. Mark studied Religion and Politics at the University of Manchester and afterwards trained and worked as an accountant before joining the leadership at Newtown. For relaxation Mark enjoys eating with family and friends, fresh air and exercise.
Elder – David Mortimer
David Mortimer was raised in Chesham and has been part of Newtown Baptist Church since his teenage years when he became a Christian. Since his retirement from full-time work he has been able to enjoy more quality time with his wife Jill and his family, especially his grandchildren, alongside his church responsibilities. David is a lifelong Chesham United supporter and most home matches you’ll find him down at The Meadow.
